Today the independent watchdog organisation Publish What You Fund released the 2015 EU AID Transparency Review which examines the performance of the biggest international donors, including the European Commission. We are delighted to see that our ongoing efforts are paying off: out of the 16 institutions assessed as part of this review, three European Commission departments (Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development, Directorate General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations and the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments), and four Member States have been rated as having very good and good performance.
Transparency is a top priority for the EU, allowing better accountability and improved access to information for civil society organisations, partner country governments or EU taxpayers. The European Commission now publishes a wide range of information in accessible and comparable formats, including through the International Aid Transparency Initiative and the user-friendly EU Aid Explorer website.
