Apart from the current COVID-19 pandemic and the necessary counter-measures taken by the European Commission, all of us together continue to face a long-term global climate challenge. In the context of the European Green Deal and the new framework of the Eastern Partnership, the European Commission is therefore pleased to announce the launch of the second EU Sustainable Energy Award for the Eastern Partnership. The award is part of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week 2020 (EUSEW) and is extended to the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) for the second time. The award recognises inspiring EU-supported energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that directly help citizens and communities save energy or switch to sustainable sources.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to citizens, businesses, governmental institutions, local authorities, civil society organisations, and youth organisations from one or several Eastern Partners countries. A key requirement is that applicants have benefitted from EU support for their energy efficiency or renewable energy project - directly or indirectly through a partner organisation.
How to apply?
Eligible applicants are invited to submit their application electronically by completing the online application form before 17 April 2020, midnight Brussels time.
What is the prize?
Six finalists, selected by a jury, will be invited to Brussels to attend the EUSEW2020 award ceremony and related EUSEW events on 22-26 June 2020. The winner will receive a trophy and a prize, and will be announced at the EUSEW 2020 Awards ceremony in Brussels on 23 June 2020.
