Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations will participate at the Eastern Partnership Investment Summit in London on Friday, 22 November, to discuss investment trends and opportunities in the Eastern neighbourhood region. Ahead of the Summit, Commissioner Hahn said: “This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership, a transformative initiative making our societies stronger and fairer and our economies more resilient and better connected. I am looking forward to participate at the first-ever Eastern Partnership Investment Summit to discuss current and future challenges and opportunities. During the current mandate, we have worked to support more diversified and vibrant economies. For the next years we will also step up our focus and investments towards new renewable energy and digital economies, which are our priorities for the upcoming Commission”. The summit will bring together the Eastern Partners’ leaders, high-level representatives from the EU, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), international investors and entrepreneurs to create a space to identify new business opportunities in the six countries of the Eastern Partnership region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine). Commissioner Hahn will also meet with Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of the EBRD, Sergei Roumas, Vice-President of the EIB, Honcharuk Oleksiy, Prime Minister of Ukraine, Lilyana Pavlova, Prime Minister of Belarus, and Maya Tskitishvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
