Today, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson travels to Moldova to discuss the challenges in supporting those fleeing the war in Ukraine. The Commissioner will meet the Moldovan President, Maia Sandu to discuss Moldova's close cooperation with the EU and the situation at the Moldova-Romania border. Commissioner Johansson will then hold a meeting with Prime Minister, Natalia Gavrilița. During the visit to the Leuseni border crossing in the afternoon, she will meet the Frontex border guards to discuss the work the agency does to support the Moldovan border guards on the border management and protecting people fleeing Ukraine from human trafficking and child sexual abuse. Together with the Moldovan Minister of Internal Affairs, Ms Ana Revenco, Commissioner will hold a press conference at 14:20 that will be live streamed on EBS+. To conclude the visit, Commissioner Johansson will deliver a speech at the opening of the new premises of the EU Delegation in Chisinau and will attend the reception on Europe Day, where she will have the opportunity to meet with the staff in the EU Delegation and also the Europol officers deployed in Moldova to support in the current situation.
