Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, will be tomorrow in Prague, Czechia, for the annual meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrád Group and of the Western Balkans. Ahead of the visit Commissioner Várhelyi said: “The Western Balkans is a priority for our geopolitical Commission. We are working on three strands: we have earlier this month presented a revised methodology to make the enlargement policy more credible, predictable, dynamic and with stronger political steer; we will shortly present an update on reform progress for North Macedonia and Albania with a view to opening accession talks; and we are developing an economic and investment plan as our contribution to the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Zagreb in May. I am looking forward to discussing our work with ministers in Prague to ensure we drive the process forward together, in the interest of stability, security and prosperity for all.”
Commissioner Várhelyi will address the plenary session and working lunch, will hold a number of bilateral meetings with Ministers and will attend the final press conference at around 13:30 with Tomáš Petříček, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czechia. In the late afternoon, Commissioner Várhelyi will travel to Budapest where he will deliver a speech at a Western Balkans conference.
Photos and videos of the visit will be available on EbS.
