Commissioner Várhelyi on a two-day visit to Ukraine

Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, will be in Kyiv on 26-27 January. The visit signals the EU's continued commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and support for Ukraine's socio-economic resilience, as announced by President von der Leyen. Discussions will focus on the benefits of the EU's Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership for the sustainable economic growth and long term recovery of Ukraine, by boosting connectivity, private sector development, economic transition for rural areas, energy efficiency and digital. The implementation of reforms and the Ukraine's further integration with the EU on the basis of the Association Agreement will also be discussed and Commissioner Várhelyi will participate in a meeting of the Ukrainian Government Coordination Commission for the Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, chaired by Prime Minister Shmyhal. Furthermore, Commissioner will hold bilateral meetings with the Ukrainian authorities, as well as with representatives of civil society and national minorities. His trip will include a visit at the Memorial Wall dedicated to the victims of Revolution of Dignity and conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as to the Babyn Yar memorial site to commemorate the Holocaust.
