The 2nd Majalat Civil Society Forum, jointly organised by the EU-funded consortium of six civil society organisations - ‘Majalat’- and the European Commission, will kick off on Monday 2 December in Brussels. Over 160 civil society actors from the Southern Neighbourhood and EU representatives will meet for two days to discuss on how tackle the most pressing challenges of the region.
The Majalat Civil Society Forum constitutes a highlight of the EU’s structured dialogue with civil society in the Southern Neighbourhood. It is an opportunity for participants to have a say on the EU’s policymaking and its implementation in the region, as the results of the discussions will feed further structured dialogues between the European Union and civil society actors from the region.
The event is organised around five thematic areas: 1) governance and rule of law; 2) migration and mobility; 3) economic development and social dialogue, 4) security and countering violence, and 5) climate and social justice. Youth and women empowerment will be addressed as crosscutting priorities.
The Forum is part of the ‘Majalat’ project, an EU-funded regional initiative in the Southern Neighbourhood that provides an important space to foster exchanges with the civil society.
