EU provides one million textbooks to Ukrainian pupils for the new school year

Ukraine books

Today, a first batch of 1 million computer and arts textbooks printed in the EU for Ukrainian schoolchildren will be delivered to Ukrainian authorities. These newly printed books, in Ukrainian, will bring the total number of textbooks for Ukraine since the start of the war to 1.5 million. As across the EU students and teachers settle into a new school year, the Commission is seeking to ensure pupils in Ukraine can continue their education, despite the on-going indiscriminate drones and missiles attacks by the Russian aggression.

This targeted education support action in Ukraine is in parallel to the support and integration of Ukrainian refugee children into EU schools.

Today’s delivery of the schoolbooks is the result of cooperation between a number of EU Member States. The files for print were finalised in the Netherlands, paper for the books delivered from Germany to Poland, where the final product was printed and shipped across the border to Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities.

The initiative is funded under the Erasmus+ programme. More information about EU support for Ukraine can be found here.
