Tomorrow, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson and Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, will be in Morocco to discuss areas of mutual interest and further opportunities for cooperation with this strategic partner, in the framework of the new impetus given to the EU-Morocco partnership since the June 2019 EU-Morocco Association Council and the adoption of a Joint Declaration. Together, the Commissioners will meet with Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita. Commissioner Várhelyi will also meet with Minister of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reform, Mohamed Benchaâboun and Minister of Industry, Trade, Green and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Education Saaïd Amzazi and Mustapha Bakkoury chairman of the board of the Moroccan Solar Energy Agency. Commissioner Johansson will visit a number of EU-funded projects in the area of labour migration and integration of migrants. She will also visit the Institute Mohammed VI of Training of Imams together with Minister Laftit and will do a technical visit of border management activities of Morocco in and around Tangier on 2 December.
