Together with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, President Ursula von der Leyen and High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell will participate in the Berlin Conference on Libya on Sunday, 19 January. This strong EU presence is testimony to the fact that Libya is a priority for the EU, which is determined to play a strong and active role at all levels to contribute to achieving and maintaining a lasting ceasefire and pave the way to a political solution to the ongoing conflict. The Berlin Conference is an opportunity to bring this process forward and the EU is ready to mobilise the required tools and resources to guarantee the full implementation of the outcomes of the Conference. The EU continues to be the strongest supporter of the work of the UN Special Representative Ghassan Salamé and the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), as well as the Berlin process as the only avenue towards a peaceful, stable and secure Libya.
