Providing protection to those fleeing the war in Ukraine: Commissioner Johansson in Romania and Slovakia today and tomorrow to assess the situation

Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, is in Romania today and will be in Slovakia tomorrow to assess the situation on the ground and the need for assistance and coordination by the Commission when it comes to providing protection to those fleeing the war in Ukraine. This morning, Commissioner Johansson visited the mobile refugee camp at the Siret border crossing point between Ukraine and Romania. She also met Lucian Bode, Romanian Internal Affairs Minister and will be visiting the border police command centre. A press conference will follow at around 12:40 CET today, which will be broadcast live on EbS+. Later this afternoon, Commissioner Johansson will meet Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă. She will also exchange with civil society representatives. Tomorrow, Commissioner Johansson will be in Slovakia where she will meet Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, Interior Minister Roman Mikulec, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok and Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď. She will also meet with civil society representatives.
