On Tuesday, 7 July, the Commission organises a digital conference to mark the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide (#Srebrenica25) which will be officially commemorated on 11 July. Voices from civil society and youth will reflect with witnesses and survivors upon one of the darkest pages of modern European history and discuss ways to build a future of truth and justice for the current and coming generations. Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood, Olivér Várhelyi, will open the conference. The event will be structured around two sessions – ‘Srebrenica, the past and its place in the history of Europe', and ‘Looking towards the future: Justice and reconciliation in the Western Balkans' and will gather academics, representatives of civil society organisations, including activists and youth. The conference can be followed live on Zoom and on the @EUnear Facebook page.
