Winners of Music Moves Europe Awards revealed

The winners of the Music Moves Europe Awards were revealed last night during the livestreamed Music Meets Europe Awards ceremony, organised during the ESNS festival in Groningen, The Netherlands. An international jury of music industry experts selected the winners from a short list of 15 nominees, who performed for a worldwide online audience. It recognises the success of upcoming artists who have reached audiences outside their own countries. Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, congratulated all the nominees and underlined: “The Music Moves Europe Awards put a spotlight on the richness and diversity of European music. By celebrating the European sound of today and tomorrow, we do not only support the vibrant music scene, but help in particular young European artists to start an international career at a time where they are heavily impacted by the pandemic situation. Putting a focus on young people and their needs is exactly what the European Year of Youth that we celebrate in 2022 is all about.”  The Grand Jury award 2022 went to Meskerem Mees from Belgium. The other winners of the 2022 Music Moves Europe awards are: Blanks (the Netherlands), Denise Chaila (Ireland), Дeva (Hungary), Mezerg (France), and Alina Pash (Ukraine). In addition to these six awards, fans across the world could vote online for their favourite artist. This year’s laureate of the Public Choice award is Ladaniva (Armenia). The EU prize for popular and contemporary music is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme. Each winner Music Moves Europe Award receives €10,000 and the winner of the Grand Jury prize receives on top of that a green touring voucher worth € 5,000. The Public Choice winner is rewarded with €5,000. The Awards are part of the wider Music Moves Europe framework for EU support to the music industry.
