Roma integration continues to be a key priority in the enlargement process. The European Commission encourages the work done by non-governmental organisations in the Western Balkans and Turkey to improve the social inclusion of Roma. One of the initiatives to support this important work is the EU Roma Integration Award launched in 2014.

The second edition of the award focuses on the inclusion, integration and empowerment of Roma children and young adults, who represent the future of their communities and are best-placed to drive the integration forward.

Out of 40 applications submitted, 13 have been nominated for the award. The winners of the first and second prize will be announced during an official award ceremony on 28 March in Brussels, hosted by the European Commission. In addition to civil society and international organisations supporting Roma integration, the event will bring together representatives of the EU Member States, Western Balkans and Turkey and the EU institutions.
