10th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region

Today, Commissioner Ferreira, will open the 10th Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) together with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Eduard Heger. Commissioner Ferreira said: “This year marks the 10th anniversary of the success story of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. The meetings will focus on the digital and green transition and how to achieve the best EU funding synergies, also in view of the upcoming Cohesion policy programming period 2021-2027.” Under the headline ‘Towards a green and digital Danube region' Commission, country representatives and hundreds of participants will discuss a broad variety of topics ranging from digitalisation to biodiversity, the role of youth and youth policies and the support to non-EU Member States, notably in the light of the Economic and Investment Plan for Western Balkans. Finally, the Forum will include the handover ceremony of the Presidency of the Danube Strategy from Slovakia to Ukraine. This is the first time ever that a non-EU, non-enlargement country takes over the Presidency of an EU Macro-regional Strategy. The programme is available on the Forum's website.
