The cross-border course on violence against women and domestic violence for Legal Professionals of the Southern Mediterranean region will be launched on 25-26 November 2019 in Rabat. This initiative is supported by the Joint Programme "Ensuring the Sustainability of Democratic Governance and Human Rights in the Southern Mediterranean" (), funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
Organised in collaboration with the Higher Institute of the Judiciary and the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Morocco, this event will mark the launch of a cross-border course on violence against women and domestic violence, involving partners from Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine*.
The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) now open to beneficiaries of the Southern Mediterranean region, has developed an online course on combating violence against women and domestic violence. This course addresses in a interactive manner the key concepts, the international and European legal framework, in particular the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Convention of Istanbul), as well as the case law governing the prevention and protection of women and girls who are victims of violence. The online course is already available in English on the and will be available in Arabic in spring 2020.
