Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, is in Tunis today representing the European Commission at the international investment conference Tunisia 2020.
Tunisia faces socio-economic and security challenges and the European Union stands ready to support its strategic partner with concrete measures. The Joint Communication 'Strengthening EU support for Tunisia' of 29 September, foresees concrete measures to support the country, especially providing opportunities for young people, and it is important to ensure its follow-up. The conference 'Tunisia 2020' is a determined effort of Tunisia to relaunch its economy and promote the country's socio-economic development. At the Conference, Commissioner Hahn will meet key interlocutors of the country including President Essebsi, Prime Minister Chahed and members of his Government as well as representatives of international financial institutions.
